Boost their Concentration!

Child Concentration

In a recent study from 2015 Northumbria University tested the function of the essential oil rosemary for memory and concentration levels. They infused a room with rosemary and with lavender, and monitored the participants reaction to the essential oils. The volunteers then took a test to test their prospective memory.

The results were remarkable.

"The volunteers in the room with the rosemary infusion did statistically significantly better than those in the control room but lavender caused a significant decrease in performance. Lavender is traditionally associated with sleep and sedation."

There are compounds in the essential oil rosemary that may be responsible for changes in memory performance. Also inhalation is one of the best ways to get a compound, whether it's a medical drug or a supplement or an essential oil, into the brain.

"When you eat a drug it may be broken down in the liver which processes everything absorbed by the gut, but with inhalation small molecules can pass into the bloodstream and from there to the brain without being broken down by the liver."

So for those busy days when your child may need an extra boost of concentration for completing a special project or a challenging homework, why not pop a few drops of rosemary essential oil on a hanky and put it on their radiator, or alternatively use an aroma diffuser.
